With a riot of period instruments and four lusty voices, The City Waites sing, play and jest their way through foot-tapping dance tunes, lively drinking songs, comic ballads, charming part-songs and musical novelties from earliest times - all introduced from the platform and performed with the panache of a London street band.
Their schedule has taken to major venues throughout the world including the Middle and Far East, the U.S. and France, Yugoslavia and the Netherlands. In 1996 they were chosen to tour Britain as part of the Early Music Network giving over 25 concerts and workshops throughout the U.K. Current schedule includes the York, Windsor, Bath, Ljubliana and Bermuda festivals and a major tour for the National Federation of Music Societies. Other activities include two brand new CD’s, broadcasts, a Channel 4 Television documentary, concerts for the National Trust, Barbican Centre and collaborations with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre.
The City Waites can play to any size audience in any kind of venue. Alongside their regular touring programmes they also offer seasonal concerts Haloween and Christmas plus a Childrens Workshop.
