Bradford Baroque Band
Bradford Baroque Band was formed in 1996 to perform chamber music on period instruments. The core players are:
Mark Davies: celloClaire Heaney: flute Steven Hollas: harpsichord, organ, fortepiano Owen Morse-Brown: recorder Peter Sneyd: bassoon The repertoire ranges from Baroque solo and trio sonatas to Mozart masterpieces and Schubert songs. Based in Bradford on Avon, the group has performed in many local venues including Longleat House, Westwood Church and the Wiltshire Music Centre. The band frequently expands to accompany choral works such as Bach's Mass in B minor, Handel's Messiah and Schubert's Mass in E flat. violinists Alison Townley and Hazel Brooks lead the orchestra. The band played background music while drinks were being served, from the foot of the stairs which floated through the whole house. There were Shakespearean songs with a soprano and theorbo, and a bassoon sonata. there was a concert at the end of the evening with extracts from Handel's Water Music (after dinner).Bradford Baroque Band often breaks into smaller groups to provide music and atmosphere in different parts of a house at the same time.
