BackBeat Village is one of the UK's grooviest function bands. Ideal entertainment for weddings, corporate functions, birthdays, office parties, university & college balls and other special events. Their specialty is funk, soul and disco by the likes of Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, Average White Band, Jamiroquai, James Brown and Al Green. They are also able to adapt to your specific musical preferences, covering many other styles of music.
The full band is made up of 10 musicians, creating a particularly full sound. Although this line-up will happily squeeze in to surprisingly small venues, they can also offer smaller bands as follows:-
- BackBeat Village (5 Piece) - A smaller version of the full band, one vocalist, four piece rhythm section.
- BackBeat Village (6 Piece) - Same as the 5-piece but with additional saxophone.
- BackBeat Village (7 Piece) - Same as the 6-piece but with additional trumpet.
- BackBeat Village (8 Piece) - Same as the 7-piece but with additional female vocals.
- Funk Factor (6/7/8 Piece) - Soul/Funk/Cpvers band featuring female vocals.
- Fugitives of Funk - An 8 piece band specialising in 70's funk, particularly the music of James Brown and Maceo Parker.
- Jazz Ensembles - Groups of any number of musicians are available, including solo and duo acts. Please note that BackBeat Village itself is made up of highly talented jazz musicians, so a variety of styles could be incorporated in to one gig to suit different stages of the afternoon/evening.
The musicians within the band have worked throughout Europe at events and venues such as the Montreux, Edinburgh and North Sea Jazz Festivals, Ronnie Scotts, Buckingham Palace, The Royal Albert Hall, Barbican Concert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Purcell Room, Bridgewater Hall, Café de Paris, The Vortex, The Jazz Café, Radio 1 and BBC Pebble Mill.
BackBeat Village have their own PA and lighting rig if required, available in various sizes to suit each venue.
