Free Spirit are an entertainingly dynamic 6-piece Soul/Funk/Top 40/Dance/Show Band. Supported by 5 of Londons finest musicians, including second female singer, Freespirit is fronted by charismatic lead vocalist Val Kelly. They have performed in some of the most prestigious venues throughout the UK, Lebanon, Malaysia, Thailand, Spain and France. The band plays in hotels and night clubs, as well as for private functions including parties, corporate events, beach parties, fashion shows and weddings etc.
The band's repertoire covers Dance, Funk, Funk-Rock, Soul, Pop, all the grooves from the end of the 20th century, and a selection of hits from the new millenium. Repertoire includes 60s to 90s soul/funk/Top 40 dance classics etc. From Rose Royce, Wild Cherry, Chic, Wilson Picket, James Brown, Chuck Berry, Donna Summer, Aretha Franklin, Sister Sledge, Lionel Richie, M People, Janet Jackson, Cameo/Mel G, Brand New Heavies, Boy Zone, Ultra Nate, Macy Gray etc. etc.
As well as a stomping high energy dance outfit, Freespirit also perform as a sophisticated, high calibre jazz/Latin jazz 4-6 piece outfit, playing nostalgic standards that will never die ..from Gershwin, Hoagy Carmichael, Cole Porter, Carlos Jobim, and songs made famous by the likes of Nat King Cole, Nina Simone, Ella, Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, George Benson etc etc. and some tight jazz-funk !... As a jazz outfit the band has appeared at the Soho & Nice-Cimiez jazz festivals, numerous clubs and hotels.
