The Sidemen
The Sidemen is a professional band comprising three of the south of England's most popular freelance musicians who have massive combined experience and a very professional outlook to help make your event extra special.The basic band is a 3-piece and totally live. The band are able to do this as the lead singer is also a guitarist, so this 3-piece band is exactly the same sound as a traditional 4-piece with separate lead singer. If needed, they can be augmented to a bigger band dependent on budget, venue or your music needs. For a bigger band they can add a saxophone, trumpet or even a female singer. The Sidemen try to make things as bespoke as possible and will tailor the band to your specific requirements.
So how about the music? The band play a wide mix of music including tunes from the Soul era (Otis Reading, Al Green, Stevie Wonder), 50's & 60's (Chuck Berry, The Kinks, Free, James Brown), 70's (Wild Cherry, Steve Miller Band), 90's (Santana, George Michael, Spin Doctors) 00's (Mark Ronson, Sam Sparro, Outkast, Kings Of Leon) and there's even some Bob Marley, Paul Simon & Steppenwolf just to keep absolutely everybody happy. They are always happy to respond to requests on the night too.
The Sidemen have full public liability cover and a great rig of equipment with lighting & background music when needed.
The Band
MIKE- Vocals and Guitars
Mike is the band's frontman, singer & guitarist. His main role is to get the crowd moving and people dancing. If you're not dancing, you should at least be singing along! Easy to talk to, be sure to ask him if there's a song you want to hear. A well respected teacher & musician, Mike has performed at many fine venues and currently holds a number of club residencies. Mike has done everything from rock to pop to big band jazz and has worked at a number of theatre venues including the BIC, London Astoria, Canary Wharf Jazz Festival and Lighthouse Arts Centre.
GIANNI- Bass Guitar and Vocals
Gianni provides the bands low end power & bass groove along with vocal harmonies. Also an accomplished guitar player, his work can be found in albums on shelves around the world. He has worked with numerous bands and orchestras as well as for celebrities from the sixties like The Platters, The Coasters, Bobby Arvon, The Diamonds and in Vegas for Broadway entertainers like Tony Tillman, Kenny James, Hal Fraiser, Lorna Luft, Ben Vereen, Susan Anton and Dominique Allen. Gianni has also worked on shows such as 'Smokey Joe's Café', 'We Will Rock You', 'Starlight Express', 'Grease' and 'Rent'.
NEIL- Drums and Percussion
Neil is the groups drummer. Beats, grooves & rhythms are his specialty so watch out for the famous drum solos! A popular and versatile drummer, Neil has played professionally for over eighteen years. Also a cornerstone of the well established 'Huckleberries' band, he has been able to lend his time and talent to the Sidemen. In various guises, has performed at the Royal Albert Hall and Glastonbury Festivals. Neil has also worked for the TV, writing and performing music for several BBC productions including the hit drama series, 'Down to Earth'.
