The Taverners Big Band The Taverners is a Jazz Big Band in the traditional format of 5 Trumpets, 5 Saxes, 4 Trombones, Piano, Bass, Guitar, Drums and vocal - playing a unique blend of standard and contemporary Big Band Jazz. Tailored to suit the occasion, the band repertoire is vast - from Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Glenn Miller to Sammy Nestico, Pat Metheny and Chick Corea. It is this unique ability to combine popular and contemporary Big Band Jazz that has established the Taverners Big Band as one of the UK¹s leading Big Bands. The Taverners feature two winners of soloist trophies in the BBC Big Band competition: Chris Ricketts on trombone in 1996 and Alan Melly on sax in 1999. The band is available for concerts, festivals, corporate and private functions.
