Socafire is a Caribbean band led by virtuoso Steel Pan player Wayne Ricardo Gibson. Socafire play Soca', the hot sounds of the Trinidad and Barbados Carnivals °andoriginated in Trinidad. It takes its name from SOul CAlypso and can be loosely defined as a kind of Calypso music with elements of Soul. It often features improvised lyrics on topical or humourous subjects. It is exciting music for non-stop dancing.
Socafire brings you the pulsating music of Carnival,the jumping rhythmic beat of drums and bass overlaid with stabbing horns and vocals. The sound of the Trinbago and Barbadian dance halls. They have appeared at festivals throughout the U.K. , performed for many corporate clients including events for I.B.M. and COLOGIC and played at yacht clubs, fetes, carnivals and wedding receptions.
Socafire is available as a 7-piece (minimum) band consisting of Steel Pan/Vocals, Female Vocals, Guitar, Bass, Drums, Trumpet, Trombone but can if required add more brass and vocals. Wayne Ricardo Gibson is also available as a soloist.
