The Counterfeit Stones were formed after a request had been made for a British rock ‘n’ roll band to play the Del Mar Grand Prix in San Diego.
This useful tip off meant that Nick, Keef, Byron, Bill and Charlie (all of whom were studying full time at a west London Rock institute), could now put their skills to the test. There was only one choice of music. The Gospel according to the greatest rock ‘n’ roll band in the World i.e. THE ROLLING STONES.
Since then, The Counterfeit Stones has gone from strength to strength, entertaining people all over the world, playing in Japan, USA, Middle East, South Africa, Finland and most of the rest of Europe, appearing at theatres, stadiums, festivals, clubs etc. Highlights include The Hell’s Angels annual festival “The Bulldog Bash” playing for about thirty thousand bikers, Arioke stadium in Tokyo and playing for an exclusive ski club at the top of a mountain in St. Moritz.
The Counterfeit Stones present a show akin to a ‘Mockumentary’, an over the top enactment of the colourful history of The Rollig Stones mixed with ‘Spinal Tap’ humour. The songs, instruments and the costumes faithfully match the originals and once you have seen the show you will always remember it!
The band has entertained many celebrities including Jerry Hall, Phil Collins, Prince Hanover, Bill Clinton, Princess Stephanie of Monaco, Ivana Trump, Bill Wyman, Prince Edward, Joan Collins, Sir Tim Rice, etc.
They have played for Status Quo, Motorhead – End Of Tour Party, and have appeared on numerous T.V. shows including CNN News, Punt and Dennis, Sky News, MTV, etc.
