The Virginia Jazz Trio – professional, versatile, stylish Jazz.
The Virginia Jazz Trio excel at playing a distinctive and elegant range of jazz from their vast repertoire including composers such as Ellington, Carmichael, Gershwin and Cole Porter. They are a group of professional musicians with decades of experience. The Virginia Jazz Trio also have the option of performing as a duo or as a quintet, with or without optional vocals.
These musicians have played with the likes of Paul McCartney, Van Morrison, Shakin Stevens, Gilbert O Sullivan, Eurythmics, and Jimmy James and The Vagabonds as well as regular jazz residencies in London.
Tenor Saxophonist Julian has played with everyone from Shakin Stevens, Gilbert O’ Sullivan to Gerry And The Pacemakers to the Eurythmics and in September 2003 played for the Rolling Stones at the end of there world tour party at Shepherds Bush in London. He has toured with Mike D’abo and Mike Pender from Manfred Man and The Searchers, and Brian Poole form the Tremmello’s. Julian has played on the QE2 and travelled to Singapore, New Zealand and Australia as well as numerous performances in and around Europe playing his big, smokey distinctive tenor sax sound. Recently Julian has played at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London supporting Van Morrison on the first leg of his UK tour. He continues to work with Gilbert O’ Sullivan regularly touring Japan and Europe and played on the main ‘Pyramid’ and acoustic stages at Glastonbury 2008. Julian also played with Gilbert at the Royal Albert Hall in October 2009 as part of his Autumn tour.
Julian is also a member of Shakin Stevens’ band as the horn section with fellow trumpet player Matt Holland (Matt played with Van Morrison’s band for 13 years). Shaky continues to tour all over the world and UK also playing on the ‘Pyramid’ stage at Glastonbury 2008. Julian played with Shaky and the band on ITV’s ‘Dancing On Ice’ programme on Christmas Day closing the whole show with a knock out performance of ‘Merry Christmas everyone’, one of Shaky’s four number one hits!
Bassist Julian Bury has played with Paul McCartney at the Cafe du Paris in London. Recently he has been seen playing sophisticated jazz on BBC 1’s Holby City. Julian has appeared on Top of the Pops 2 playing bass with Gilbert O’Sullivan. Julian is a well respected bass player, comfortable with everything from be-bop to jazz standards can regularly be seen in jazz clubs in and around London from Ronnie Scotts to the 100 Club.
Guitarist Nigel Price’s blend of flowing bebop lines mixed with an exceptional blues feeling has made him instantly recognizable and popular with jazz audiences. He has played with the likes of; Jennifer Lopez, Pee Wee Ellis, Bobby Wellins, Alec Dankworth, Alan Barnes, Dave O’Higgins, Julian Siegel, Pete Long Jim Watson, MartinShaw, and Peter King to name a few.
Nigel performed with the legendary David Axelrod at the Royal Festival Hall in 2004 and also spent more than two years with the Sheena Davis group. Nigel is now an established player on the London jazz scene and often performs a sone of the Ronnie Scott’s All Stars – the house band at the legendary club, and up until recently was the regular guitarist with the James Taylor Quartet.
Events include Henley Regatta, Royal Ascot and many celebrity functions at London’s Dorchester Hotel .
