Murphy’s Lore are a first class Ceilidh and Barn Dance band based in Dorset.

The original band (Highly Strung) was formed in 1992 and developed over several years playing Celtic music – Irish and Scottish, for Ceilidh’s and Barn Dances, parties and weddings. The strength of the band lies in its ability to be flexible, playing jigs, reels, polkas, marches, waltzes etc and adding vocals – songs from the Folk tradition. The band call upon one of several excellent callers for Ceilidhs and Barn Dances. The music is well arranged and delivered through a high quality sound system.

Gill and Richard are the band’s lead (or tune) players on fiddle and accordion and they come together beautifully for rich melodies and harmonies. They are underpinned by Noeleen and Alex on guitar and Bass, who provide a full and driving rhythm to keep the whole together. Richard and Noeleen also provide the vocals, so the band perform traditional songs between dances giving an added dimension to the evening.
