Five Star Swing – a first class professional band playing music of the ‘Swing’ Era.

Five Star Swing band play the music of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Sinatra and many more. The band is flexible in size and available from a compact 4 piece right through to a big band to accommodate various budgets and venues.

Led by Chris Smith Jnr., (who’s band leader father played trombone for Sinatra) the band plays for all kinds of events from small receptions to large corporate events, festivals and concerts. Chris directs the band from the piano and also sings and plays trumpet! He also composes and arranges music which is featured by Jazz FM, Capital Radio, BBC Big Band and even The Royal Variety Performance.


Five Star Swing offer a number of shows including a Glenn Miller show, a ‘Jazz Swing Spectacular’ (featuring the music from Glenn Miller to Jools Holland), ‘Big Band Swing’ (music from the legends of swing such as Sinatra, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Tommy Dorset, Glenn Miller etc.) and ‘The Blitz’ featuring 40’s swing, Glenn Miller and jive etc. with the band in 1940’s costume.

Clients include: Phil Collins, Dame Vera Lynn, British Airways, Granada TV, Rod Stewart, Kensington Palace, Blenheim Palace, Terry Wogan, Granada TV etc.

Five Star Swing have been the backing band for The Military Wives Choir and have toured with them. They have also featured at Dame Vera Lynn’s charity Gala nights.
