Bass player Simon Thorpe established Jivin’ Miss Daisy in 1999, playing all kinds of swing and jazz music from the 1920s, 30s 40s and 50s for clubs in London. Since then the band has gone from strength to strength – whether performing at jazz clubs or festivals, weddings or corporate events, you can be sure Jivin’ Miss Daisy will have the audience dancing, partying or just singing along.
The band play your choice of classic songs from Gershwin, Cole Porter, Duke Ellington and Count Basie through to Nat King Cole and Ray Charles. Jivin’ Miss Daisy’s musicians are the very best players on the UK scene, with band members having played with artists like Wynton Marsalis, Van Morrison, The Rolling Stones, Jools Holland, Tom Jones and Stacey Kent.
Jivin Miss Daisy play primarily as a 6pc band with singer, rhythm section and 2x brass of sax & trumpet. Other band options are available with the 9pc being popular for larger events adding more brass and guitar or as a scaled down band of trio or quartet for background music. Jivin Miss Daisy are self contained providing their own professional PA and band lighting.
1920s & Great Gatsby themed events
The band plays for lots of themed events and the 1920s flappers theme and Great Gatsby entertainment is very popular. There is an excellent repertoire to draw upon and the band immerse themselves in the style both musically and visually dressing in 1920s style outfits!
